Wexley School For Girls Comes Aboard For ROFLCon!

One of the pretty bodacious things about this conference that the ROFLTeam has been noticing is the extent to which people are just randomly emerging from the woodwork to be part of and help out with putting together this conference. Whether its hunting down the internet celebs (thanks art), or dropping a line with some wayward academic, Mother Internet always seems to be ready to lend a helping hand.

In that vein, Wexley School for Girls (which, in fact is not a single-sex educational institution but a superslick marketing firm based in Seattle) just dropped us a line a week or two ago, and we’ve been working with them on sponsorship and assembling the panels. Needless to say, the ROFLTeam’s has got kind of a huge crush on them. So today, we’re happy to announce that we’re joining forces and that we’ll be bringing them on board as conference consultants/partners.

Just like that. Can you think of anything more Benkler-esque? I love the internetz.

Conference Schedule v. 0.9 Released!

So many of you have been asking — “Gee folks, internet memes are great and all, but what are you going to do when you get them all into a room?”

We hear your cry. And suffice it to say, it’s a pretty good question.

We here on the ROFLCon Team have been working through the vacation to put this thing together, and we’ve hammered out a preliminary conference schedule that we’ll be molding over the next few weeks into a completed, shiny plan of action for our two day event. For descriptions of the memes themselves, see the links on our confirmed guests page.

Check it out, after the jump. We’re taking comments/questions/criticisms from everyone at this point, so feel free to let us know what you think, particularly about the panel prompt questions.

This schedule is subject to change. (And addition: there’s a number of big namer guests that don’t know about their schedule yet — for privacy’s sake, I’ve left them off, some of these holes are obvious, feel free to guess who they are)

Happy Holidays From the ROFLCon Team!

Anyways, happy holidays from the ROFLCon Team!

Although it’s technically vacation, we’ve been hard at work hammering out sponsorships, venues, a preliminary schedule, and the press presence at the event to bring the sweet internet culture goodness to you this coming spring.

The good news is: registration is good to go – we’ve just gotta make one last call to Harvard to get some logistical stuff sorted out. All depends on when those folks get into the office, so I’m guess we’ll be fully operational within a few days after the New Years.

Sorry about the delay on this, we’ve been getting your e-mails wondering about what happened to pre-registration: December really blows in terms of getting stuff done — the necessary non-ROFLTeam people handling stuff with Harvard have been outta the office. Jerks.

Plus, we’ll be routing the preliminary schedule around to the confirmed guests in a few days. Once we get their comments/revisions, it’ll be posted up here on the blog.  Stay tuned…
