Comment: “Except possibly the reading and comprehension room.”

Like most things on the internet, places like Etsy have introduced us both to the glory of people wildly more talented than us, and the chasm of how low human talents can go.

Perhaps no other site has balled up that spirit into a hyperactive critical mass of awesomeness the likes of which the internet has never seen before as Regretsy. If you haven’t seen it before, the only thing you can do is check it out — I probably can’t do it justice here. It’s a masterwork of snark — sort of reminds me of vintage Maddox laying the law down on kids drawings.

In any case, I’m glad to make official today that Helen Killer, the creator and mastermind behind Regretsy, will be making an appearance and speaking at ROFLCon!

Jonah Peretti!

In the annals of internet viraldom, some of you might remember one particular sweet moment a few years back called Black People Love Us. That site was awesome, and in its nostalgia-inspired frenzy of guest invitations ROFLCon II would probably be remiss to not extend an invitation.

The man behind that site, Jonah Peretti, has been seriously busy since that project — he was later the creator of Buzzfeed and co-founder of a little site you may have heard of before called The Huffington Post.

We’ve been trying to snag him for some time, and I’m glad to announce today that Jonah will be joining us for ROFLCon II in April! He’ll be speaking about his work, and revealing some research that he’s been working with recently on the topic of multiple memes, and exploring the elusive problem of Being Successful More Than Once On The Internet. I’m told that there will be sweet, sweet data in abundance.

I’ve got the guest list updated, as per usual. More to come this week, you’ll hear it here first.

The ROFLFolks have got lots of love for Harvard’s Berkman Center for Internet and Society. The people are badass, the projects are webtacular, and their crew is reppin’ up as one of the keynote talks we’re most excited about this year.

So, after sitting down to talk last week to the Powers That Be, I’m happy to announce today that, following our friends over at the Comparative Media Studies Department at MIT, the Berkman Center has officially agreed to come on board with us as a sponsor for ROFLCon II! We’re thrilled to have them, and couldn’t have found a better partner to bring this thing together with.

Hope Halloween was good for everyone — we’ve got announcements all lined up for this week, as well as several recent ancedotes to relate about how we’re trying to get visas for Mahir Cagri to enter the country. Life is ridiculous. Stay tuned…
