How goes it? Hope NYE plans are looking well for everyone! As we wrap up 2009 here at ROFLCon headquarters, and get the team underway in the final, insane four month dash that will produce our second conference, we figured we’d close out December 31st with an announcement that our old friend and impossibly active globetrotter Matt “Dancing Matt” Harding of Where The Hell Is Matt, will be dancing his way to ROFLCon II!

Matt was the subject of the intense and brilliant “Surviving Internet Fame” panel with Jay Maynard in 2008 (totally worth seeing, if you missed it), and we’re excited to have him back again once more. By now an elder statesman of the internet fame universe, he’ll be at the conference catching us up about the latest and greatest, and where he’s dancing off to next.

Well, then, I’m seriously glad to announce today that we’ve confirmed that Scott Vrooman and Mark Little, of the comedy outfit Picnicface (and creators of video favorite Powerthirst — and its awesome, yelling-infused sequel Powerthirst 2: Re-Domination), will be making the trip out from Canada to rep at ROFLCon 2 in April! We’ve been huge fans of Powerthirst-type products in the past, so we’re mega-ultra-thrilled to have them coming out for the conference.

Coming down on the wire for the last week of December, but we’ve got more announcements a’coming on the guest front. You’ll hear it here first, dear readers.

Amazing, cosmically excellent news coming down the pipe today that we’ve officially confirmed that Baratunde Thurston — web (and politics) editor for The Onion, mastermind behind the terrifying @the_swine_flu, and a general man for our times — will be attending and speaking at ROFLCon II!

We’re particularly thrilled to announce this because of Baratunde’s talents (in addition to numerous others) as a seriously kickass MC and speaker. This recent holy-crap-that-was-good talk gives you a sense of what we’re talkin’ about.

PUMPED. We’ve got the guest list updated as per usual. More to come!

ROFLCon II Dates Officially Set

Was planning to get to announce this last week, but got caught up in some last minute finagling with MIT. But we’ve finally got it hammered out.

In any case, happy to announce today that we’ve officially decided that ROFLCon II will be on April 30th and May 1st, 2010.

Got it? Awesome. Planning to open up registration sometime in January, and we’ll announce on the blog when it goes up. If you’ve already hit up tim AT roflcon DOT org, we’ve already got you covered (even if I haven’t responded), and, if you haven’t, definitely do drop a line if you want to be notified by e-mail when it opens up.

Thanks! We’ve got more guest announcements this week too, so more to come.
