Jason Scott — archiver, owner of @Sockington, BBS historian, text adventure documentarian, and all around genius — has over time become a fixture at ROFLCon events (his talk, “Before the LOL” is one of the most brilliant from ROFLCon ‘08 and it’s pretty much absolutely necessary to check it out if you haven’t seen it yet). We’re extremely happy to announce today that he’ll be returning once again to ROFLCon II this April, this time moderating one of the most epic and distinguished panels that we’ve yet had the honor of hosting at our conference.

Entitled, “Heroes of Usenet,” it’ll cover the social and cultural ecosystem of that pre-web universe. In a particularly ROFLCon twist, however, we’ll be actually bringing some of the biggest figures from that world straight to Boston to participate, including:

* Gene Spafford -  Usenet’s organizational architect and computer security expert

* Laurence Canter – co-creator of the very first massive commercial Usenet spam

* Joel Furr – king of the alt hierarchy (though his extensive FAQ will be far more informative about his exploits)

* Richard Sexton – popularizer of B1FF, noob troll to the max

Completely thrilled, and what’s more exciting is that it looks like there might be more to come. We’ll announce them as they come out!
