Thanks to the awesome help of old hand internet meme newhounds David Cassel and Janet Kornblum, we’re on the trail on tracking down Deidre LeCarte, the original meme-mom behind Hampster Dance. I’ve got a phone number (no answering machine, sadly, I’ll have to call again today), an AOL e-mail from 1999 (now out of commission), and a connect to the media conglomerate that now manages the Hampster Dance brand, Abatis. With any luck, either the first one or third one will let us catch up with her.
While LeCarte is proving pretty elusive, it’s funny how some internet meme folks are still pretty easy to find. Gary “Numa Numa” Brolsma now actually has a slick new operation at New Numa.com. (Actually, if you’ve got the time, The Believer’s thought piece on the phenom is worth looking at) We’re talking with them right now to arrange for Gary’s appearance which would be, in (two) words: huge and awesome.
Since we’re still waiting on a response from some people, I’m bringing some really really really awesome new interesting guests into the hopper, including Will It Blend, Homestar Runner, and the Juggernaut Bitch guys.
I’ll get cracking on this later this afternoon and we’ll see how it goes.
Pumped,
Tim
