#0 – Actually get to MIT! But once you’ve arrived, check in to Foursquare at ROFLcon II.

#1 – Upload your pictures to Flickr. Tag your pics with “roflcon.” Join and send your photos to the ROFLcon Flickr group so that they’ll appear in the stream on the homepage. License your pictures with a Creative Commons license, so we can feature them in our blog posts!

#2 – Make sure to follow @roflcon on Twitter to stay current with conference updates. Use the #roflcon hashtag, or search for #roflcon to see what other attendees are blabbing about.

#3 – Have questions during any of the panels? Use our nifty backchannel feature! If you want to feel shiny, visit http://roflcon.backchan.nl with your mobile phone to use the mobile-optimized Backchan.nl

#4 – Watch the homepage for liveblogs of all those panels you missed.

#5 – Or, if you don’t feel like reading, watch on of the live video streams from each panel room!

#6 – If you get lost on MIT’s campus, be sure to check out this handy-dandy notebook webpage.

#7 – Perhaps you fancy some food? Check out this Google Maps page!

#8 – Feel like you need some drinks instead? Browse this alternate map!

#9 – And, of course, you want some WiFi, right? If you find yourself in the Media Lab, use media lab 802.11. For all the other rooms, use MIT GUEST.

#10 – And, as always, check out the online version of the schedule here.

Afterparty is 21+, But Free Friday Night?

So, after a long, drawn-out battle and discussion with the owners over the last week or so, Moomia’s has officially dinged us down hard and all our alternative suggestions to work it out: the afterparty will be 21+. We’re stuck too because there’s no other venues open at this point.

This sucks so hard and we feel like asshats. Particularly because the 18+ crowd is internets too.

But – if you want parties and shenanigans and are in town early, ROFLThing’s got something cooked up for you.

On, uh, the New York City subway system. With people.

Friday night. 10:30 PM. Union Square, near the statue of Ol’ George Washington.

We’ll be there. You should be too.

It’s not too late to get tickets to ROFLThing, we’re giving to charity — check this out

What Are They Now: The LOLCat Show

Posted on September 15, 2008 by Tim Hwang

As per last time — we’re doing a series of blog feature stories on the new projects that’ve been popping up lately for some of the ROFLPartners that we’ve worked with in the past.

This is out of control.

Just caught the word from the team over at I Can Haz Cheezburger that after much consideration, they’ve decided to go ahead with throwing an honest to goodness LOLCat gallery show in San Francisco October 23rd. We hear it’ll be some swanky digs, with hors d’oeuvres, mixed media exhibits, and the whole thing. They’re looking for legit art commentators and the general gallery community to come out to experience the general image macro joy, so it should be an awesome group of people.

You can read more about the submission details here at ICHC. Pieces are due this Friday, so get a’crackin!

Want to see ROFLCon at SXSW?

Some of you lucky readers out there may be getting excited about SF ROFLThing right now, but I know the rest of you are wondering: where else can we get our ROFLfix?

Well.

Quite a few members of the ROFLCon crew are planning to attend SXSW Interactive 2009, and we’d love to see you there! In fact, we’ve applied for a speaking spot on a topic we hope you’ll find interesting. The talk is called Behind the ROFLs: Next-Gen Conference Organizing While Broke, and in it we promise to share all of our secrets, tips, and lulz about how (and why) we put ROFLCon together without failing out of school (yet) or selling our souls to large corporations (yet). If this sounds appealing to you, please click here and vote positively for us! It’ll make us feel really special.

In fact, since SXSW’s panel picker is so incredibly crowded, here’s a quick guide to what our friends are up to at SXSW. If you were a guest at ROFLCon and you’re not on this list, email us and we’ll put you on!
